Members aim to reduce trade obstacles by streamlining work on technical barriers

The following is excerpted from a 30 November 2012 news item by the World Trade Organization.

The WTO Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee is to shift its focus towards broader themes common to the specific issues that have dominated its work so far, in the hope that those issues can be settled more easily. Ultimately, trade in goods ranging from food, medicines and cosmetics to toys, telephones and tyres could flow more smoothly.
