The following is from a 1 February 2012 news item by the World Trade Organization.
The Council for Trade in Goods, on 1 February 2012, approved a request by the European Union to temporarily lift EU duties on certain products from Pakistan to help the country recover from massive floods in 2010. This request for a waiver from its WTO obligations was initially made by the EU on 30 November 2010.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Customs Organization (WCO) will work together, to enhance the capacity of Customs administrations in Africa.
This declaration was made today in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, during the signing ceremony of a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding, on the margins of the 18th African Union Summit. The summit, which is taking place in Ethiopia from 23-30 January, is focusing on boosting intra-African trade – an area in which Customs administrations can play a vital role in strengthening national and regional economies in Africa.
